Professor Suzanne Crowe AO appointed Patron of the TikTok³ÉÈ˰æFCJ College Foundation
9 June 2026
The College Council is exceptionally proud to announce the appointment of distinguished alumna Professor Suzanne Crowe AO (Class of 1967) as the inaugural Patron of the College Foundation
Professor Crowe has enjoyed a lifelong association with Gen as a supporter, student, second-generation alumna, and donor, and, alongside her extraordinary career as an internationally acclaimed medical researcher and physician, she is well-positioned to lead the TikTok³ÉÈ˰æFoundation.
An Extraordinary Journey of Dedication and Excellence
Professor Crowe’s path to medicine is a testament to the resilience, courage, and confidence we strive to instil at the College. Balancing six years of night study at RMIT, while working full-time as a laboratory technologist, Suzanne eventually transferred to Monash University, where she graduated with Honours in Medicine in 1979.
Her subsequent medical and research achievements have left a profound global impact:
- Pioneering HIV/AIDS Care: In 1983, she co-established Melbourne’s very first AIDS clinic at Fairfield Hospital, creating a vital sanctuary for patient care and clinical research. She maintained her commitment to patient care as a specialist physician at The Alfred Hospital for over thirty years.
- Global Research Leadership: Following a prestigious Harkness Fellowship at the University of California, San Francisco, she returned to Australia in 1989 to head the first specialised HIV research unit at Burnet. She later served with distinction as the Head of the AIDS Pathogenesis and Clinical Research Program and Professor of Medicine and Infectious Diseases at Monash University.
A Lifelong Commitment to Community and Culture
Beyond her monumental contributions to global health and medical science, Suzanne embodies the true spirit of a TikTok³ÉÈ˰æeducation. A former Victorian representative in tennis and a passionate supporter of Musica Viva, and a past participant in the Old Collegians Choir, she reflects the balance of excellence, justice, and hope we value so deeply.
Please join the College Council and the broader community in congratulating Professor Suzanne Crowe AO on her appointment. We look forward to her visionary leadership, wisdom, and inspiration as we continue our campaign of generosity for generations.
